The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Social Welfare and Health Insurance, Dr. Chioma Vivian Egu, on May 26, 2025, together with the Executive Secretary of the Imo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency-ISPHCDA, Rev. Sr. Dr. Maria-Joannes Uzoma, and a team from the Department of Nutrition from the UNICEF Nigeria Field Office, paid a courtesy visit to my office. Mrs. Juliet Chiluwe, Chief of Field Office, UNICEF Enugu Field Office, led the UNICEF team.
They informed me about the upcoming activities, including the Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week, which begins on the 11th of June, and the launch of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) in the State. This initiative aims to improve maternal and child health outcomes by addressing micronutrient deficiencies, particularly for pregnant women. They also expressed their interest in collaborating with my foundation, the Goodhope Women Flourish Initiative - GHWFI, and commended me for the wonderful work and support the foundation is giving to Imo residents, especially in our work with women and children.
In my remarks, I thanked them for their visit and their efforts in promoting and enhancing healthcare in the State, and pledged my continued support towards activities promoting the welfare of our people, especially in terms of health.
