I had the honour of meeting one of the mentees from the first edition of the Reaching Forward Mentorship Program organized by my foundation, the Goodhope Women Flourish Initiative - GHWFI, Deborah Chinonyerem Uzoma, on May 26th, 2025, and was pleased to receive a copy of her recently launched book, "My Father's House and Other Poems."
Flipping through the pages of her beautiful work, I was impressed by her noble intentions behind this collection, which aims to instill moral values, cultural awareness, patriotism, and self-expression in our children. I was particularly impressed by one of the poems titled "I Want To Get It Right," which has these lines: "When I am right, give me a clap; when I am wrong, caution me; when I am silly, direct me..."
The book's focus on balancing the uncertain realities of society with positive moral teachings means it will equip our children to be prepared for the world they will inherit, providing them with the values that will help them navigate it with dignity and purpose.
Congratulations again, Deborah C. Uzoma, and thank you for contributing to our cultural landscape and investing in the moral education of our children through your literary work.
