The Food Outreach Scheme of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), under its Social Investment Program, was launched to provide essential food items to women, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups across Nigeria. On 23rd May, 2025, I joined my sisters, the RHI State Coordinators, other distinguished guests, and the people of Abia to Welcome the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator (Dr.) Oluremi Tinubu, CON,who was ably represented by the Wife of the Vice President and RHI Vice Chairman, H.E. Hajiya Nana Shettima, for the distribution of essential food commodities to vulnerable groups in the State.
In her address at the event, H.E. Hajiya Nana Shettima expressed her appreciation to the donors for their continued support of the Initiative: the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) and a second donor who has chosen to remain anonymous. She urged the beneficiaries to use these items for the well-being of their families, and reiterated that the RHI is implementing several impactful interventions that are touching lives across the nation, with these efforts yielding positive outcomes.
The Renewed Hope Initiative's programs, according to the First Lady, are designed to complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and to improve the lives of Nigerians across the country. Additional programs to be rolled out later in 2025 include the Economic Empowerment program to support and recapitalize 250 small businesses in each of the States, including the FCT; the "Environment Club" for senior secondary school students and "The Environment Society" for students in tertiary institutions nationwide, to promote environmental cleanliness and tree planting; and the "Flow with Confidence" program aimed at helping girls stay in school throughout their menstrual cycle.
