"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another even as I have loved you." An excerpt from today's gospel reading (John 13:31-35) inspired us as my husband, His Excellency Dist. Sen. (Dr.) Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSSRS, and I worshipped at the Government House Chapel.
The sermon exposited on the essence of Christ's teaching, urging us to embody a love that transcends self-interest and embraces selflessness, a love that is sacrificial and boundless, an enduring commitment to the well-being of others, even in the face of adversity. This divine love, the sermon emphasized, is patient and kind, never envious or boastful, and always seeks to uplift and unite. It is a love that mirrors the compassion and humility of Christ, who laid down His life for humanity.
As we reflect on this message, let us commit to building a society where love reigns supreme, where every individual is valued, and where the promise of a brighter future is realized through our collective commitment to one another.
