As the global population continues to expand, agricultural development is becoming increasingly critical to ensuring food security. To address this pressing need, the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, through her flagship program, the Renewed Hope Initiative, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and with the support of the State Government, hosted a Seminar for Young Farmers.

The training, held in Owerri on May 13, 2025, targeted students from selected schools in Imo State. Facilitated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the session focused on establishing Young Farmers Clubs to inspire interest in agriculture among young people. By introducing modern farming techniques, the initiative seeks to equip students with the knowledge and skills to engage their peers across other schools, thereby fostering a broader movement toward agricultural innovation.

This program, which is being implemented across all 36 states of the Federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, aims to nurture a new generation of agricultural leaders. Through hands-on training, mentorship, practical experience, and empowerment, the initiative is designed to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial farmers capable of transforming Nigeria’s food production systems, driving economic growth, and achieving national self-sufficiency in food production.
