AN ADDRESS DELIVERED BY HER EXCELLENCY, BARR. CHIOMA UZODIMMA, WIFE OF THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE, CELEBRATING C.W.O. MOTHER’S DAY/MOTHERING SUNDAY HELD AT MARIA ASSUMPTA CATHEDRAL PARISH, OWERRI ON APRIL 18, 2021.
PROTOCOL
Today, I am humbled to be here as one who has great honor for mothers and motherhood, and to have been granted this opportunity to stand as "Mother of the Day" is such a tremendous opportunity to express my feelings towards all mothers in general; especially those of this esteemed Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri, Catholic Women Organization (C.W.O), Maria Assumpta Cathedral Parish, Owerri, Imo State and to commend the great work that you do.
In today's society, as always, mothers play very critical roles in shaping the society, starting with their place in the family which is the basic social unit. They are the heartbeat of the family and the nucleus of every society.
Furthermore, the first school of a child is the mother's laps and so the very important place of mothers in our State in particular, and Nation, at large have granted them a very dignified position in the scheme of things. I therefore admonish our mothers to continue to do more for us by moulding the right characters and imbibing the necessary virtues for the betterment of the society.
It is a very famous quotation from Napoleon Bonaparte, "Give me good mothers and I shall give you a great nation! Affirmatively, the progress of a people depends upon the way the mothers bring up their children. With great mothers, the whole society will progress.
It is true that no truer words can be said to describe our gratitude or appreciation for our mothers. She is to all a very precious gift from the Almighty, and so we would celebrate her strength as often as we can, as often as need be.
On this day, we have the opportunity to tell our mothers how much they are admired, how much we love them, and how much appreciative we are of the sacrifices and services they provide for us; their strength is truly unrivaled.
Today will not be complete without a reference to our Lady, the Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ – the Blessed Virgin Mary; who is my favorite mother. She is a model to all mothers, a symbol of love.
I challenge all present here today, to draw inspiration from Our Blessed Virgin Mary, who is a model to mothers and the heart of love.
May the blessing of the Divine Be an especially bright benediction Upon mothers everywhere On this blessed Mother's Day and onward.
Ndi Nne Maama, Ezi Nne bu ihe! Chukwu gọzie ụnụ.
H.E. Barr. Chioma Uzodimma First Lady, Imo State
